Curative effect analysis of photodynamic therapy and surgical treatment for oral leukoplakia
Objective To compare the clinical efficacy and prognosis of photodynamic therapy and surgical treatment for oral leukoplakia and to provide a reference for dentists to determine the clinical diagnosis and treatment strategy. Methods Ninety patients diagnosed as severe oral leukoplakia by biopsy in the Department of Stomatology of Henan Provincial People's Hospital from January 2022 to July 2023 were included in the study. They were randomly divided into two groups according to the ratio of 1∶1.The subject group(n=45)was treated with photodynamic therapy, and the control group(n=45)was treated with the traditional surgical excision.Follow-upwas conducted for 6 months after the surgery, and the efficacy rate, the recurrence rate and patient satisfaction were used as the criteria for determining the efficacy. Results The effectiveness rate(66.7%)and curative rate(46.7%)of the experimental group were signifi-cantly higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences(P=0.003 vs.P=0.001).The patient satisfaction rate of the experimental group(88.9%)was higher than that of the control group(60%),with a sta-tistically significant difference(P=0.002).Conclusion The comprehensive therapeutic effect of photodynamic therapy on oral leukoplakia is superior to that of traditional surgical treatment, which is worth promoting in clinical practice.
