Effect of preventive treatment of complications on enamel demineralization in orthodontic patients treated with non-removable appliance
Objective This study consider the consequences of applying a comprehensive preventive treatment for ortho-dontic patients, who cannot be removed, for patients with dental enamel. Methods Totally 86 non-archic-orthodon-tic patients treated in the Zhoukou Central Hospital from February 2021 to February 2024 were selected. The control group used regular treatment, based on which the follow-up group used preventive treatment of complications. The en-amel,soft clay, orthodox maculite, the possibility of self-treatment and complications in patients were compared. Results The rate of enamel demineralization was significantly lower in the observation group than that in the control group 6 and 12 months after orthodontics, with significant differences(P<0.05);the soft scale index of enamel was sig-nificantly lower in the observation group than that in the control group, with a significant difference(P<0.05);the or-thodontic plaque index in the teeth of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(2.12±0.29 vs 1.92±0.31),and the data were statistically different(P<0.05);after orthodontics,self-care skills(38.39±4.85),level of health awareness(49.32±6.61),responsibili-ty(19.07±2.09),conception(24.62±4.27),and total score(132.03±14.93)were significantly higher in the observation group than that in the control group(33.08±5.24),(42.23±6.12),(22.27±4.98),(16.50±3.04),(114.12±15.51),with significant differences(P<0.05);the number of complications was significantly lower in the observation group than that in the control group, with a significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion For the dental orthodontist who can not be removed, the applica-tion of a comprehensive preventive treatment of complications can significantly reduce the level of enamel in patients, the index of dirt blan, increase self-preservation of patients, which deserves encouragement.
