Comparison of point-of-care blood gas analyzer testing results with central laboratory
Objective To analyze the consistency of the results of point-of-care testing(POCT)blood gas analyzers and blood gas analyzers in central laboratory. Methods Totally 172 arterial blood gas analysis samples anticoagulated by heparin in Henan Province People's Hospital from March 2024 to July 2024 were collected,Hb,HCT,K+,Na+,Cl-,and Glu were tested using both the POCT blood gas analyzer and the automated analyzer in the central laboratory, then calculate the mean and standard deviation. The bias and bias rate between the results of POCT blood gas analyzers and the results of central laboratory were calculated.A NOVA test and Passing-Bablok regression analysis were used to analyze and evaluate the consistency of the results between the POCT blood gas analyzer and the central laboratory. Results The bias between the POCT blood gas analyzer of Hb、HCT and the central laboratory were exceed the external quality assessment standard of National Center for Clinical Laboratories; The bias of K+,Na+,Cl-,and Glu between POCT blood gas analyzer and central laboratory were less than the external quality assessment standard of National Center for Clinical Laboratories. There was no significant difference between the results of blood gas analysis of POCT units and the results of blood gas analysis of central laboratory(P>0.05).The intercept and slope of the test results of POCT blood gas analyzers and the simulated regression equation of the central laboratory were all in the 95%confidence inter-val,P>0.05,which was highly consistent with the test results of the central laboratory. Conclusion The POCT blood gas analyzers have good consistency with the central laboratory on the tests of K+,Na+,Cl-,and Glu.In contrast, the consistency between the POCT blood gas analyzer and the central laboratory for Hb and HCT test results is poor.
