Analysis of therapeutic effect of ultrasound-guided lauromacrogol combined with anhydrous ethanol sclerotherapy in treatment of elderly thyroid cysts
Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of clinical sclerotherapy for elderly thyroid cysts by real-time ultrasound-guided injection of cinnamyl alcohol combined with anhydrous ethanol. Methods The 94 elderly patients with thyroid cysts admitted to Henan General Hospital from October 2021 to December 2023 were randomly divided in-to an observation group(n=47,ultrasound-guided injection of lauromacrogol combined with anhydrous ethanol)and a control group(n=47,ultrasound-guided injection of anhydrous ethanol). The total effective rate of treatment,ad-verse reactions during surgery, postoperative complications and postoperative recurrence were observed and analyed be-tween the two groups. Results The observation group with total effective rate of 93.62%,apparently higher than that of the control group(72.34%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);after 1,3,6 and 12 months of treatment, the volumes of cysts in both groups showed a significant downward trend and decreased significantly;no statistically significant differences in postoperative complications between the two groups(P>0.05).The total inci-dence of adverse reactions during surgery in the observation group was 8.51%,apparently lower than that of the con-trol group(27.66%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);during the follow-up period, the re-currence rate in the observation group was 2.12%(1/47),while the recurrence rate in the control group was 6.38%(3/47).Conclusion For the treatment of elderly thyroid cysts, the efficacy and safety of real-time ultrasound-guided lauromacrogol combined with anhydrous ethanol sclerotherapy are relatively high, easy for patients to accept, and worthy of clinical promotion and application.
