Application of serum IL-5 and IL-10 and IL-17 and IFN-γ in diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus and evaluation of renal injury
Objective To explore the application value of serum interleukin-5/-10/-17(IL-5,IL-10,IL-17)and γ-interferon(IFN-γ)in the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)and evaluation of renal injury. Methods A total of 102 patients with SLE in the General Hospital of Pingmei Shenma Medical Group were enrolled as SLE group between May 2021 and October 2022.According to scores of systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity in-dex(SLEDAI),they were divided into active stage group(58 cases,≥9 points)and inactive stage group(44 cases,<9 points).A total of 90 healthy controls were enrolled as control group. The expression levels of serum IL-5,IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ in different groups were compared.According to the evaluation criteria of lupus nephritis(LN),pa-tients in SLE group were divided into LN group and non-LN group. The value of serum indexes in the diagnosis of SLE and evaluation of renal injury was assessed by receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves. Results The levels of serum IL-5,IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ in SLE group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).The area under ROC curve(AUC)of IL-5 combined with IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ for evaluating the occurrence of SLE was 0.891,greater than that of single index(0.804,0.827,0.825,0.823,P<0.05).The levels of serum IL-5,IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ in active stage group were higher than those in inactive stage group(P<0.05).Pearson corre-lation analysis showed that levels of IL-5,IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ were positively correlated with the systemic lu-pus erythematosus disease activity index score(r=0.624,0.626,0.744,0.693,P<0.001).The levels of serum IL-5,IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ in LN group were higher than those in non-LN group(P<0.05).AUC of IL-5 combined with IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ for evaluating the occurrence of LN was 0.868,greater than that of single index(0.768,0.796,0.796,0.703,P<0.05).Conclusion The levels of serum IL-5,IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ are high in SLE patients. The four indexes are positively correlated with disease activity, which can indicate the progression of renal injury. The levels of serum IL-5,IL-10,IL-17 and IFN-γ can evaluate the occurrence and progression of SLE to a certain extent.
