Analysis of relationship between CCL 23 and disease severity and short-term outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke
Objective To investigate the relationship between C-C motif chemokine ligand 23(CCL23)levels and the disease severity and short-term prognosis of patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS).Methods Totally 100 AIS pa-tients treated from March 2020 to March 2023 at Huanghe Science and Technology College Affliated Hospital were se-lected as the study group.Additionally,110 healthy volunteers who underwent medical check-ups at the same hospital during the same period were selected as the control group.Clinical data of the subjects were collected for comparative a-nalysis.Serum CCL23 levels were detected using the enzyme linked immunosorbent Assay(ELISA)method. The sever-ity of the AIS was assessed using the national institutes of health stroke scale(NIHSS),categorized into mild,moder-ate,and severe groups.Three months after treatment, the prognosis of AIS patients was assessed using the modified rankin scale(mRS),classifying them into good prognosis and poor prognosis groups.Logistic regression analysis was employed to identify factors affecting the prognosis of AIS patients. The predictive value of CCL23 on the prognosis of AIS patients was analyzed using the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve. Results In the study group, serum CCL23 levels were significantly higher compared to the control group(P<0.05).There were significant differences in the expression levels of CCL23 among different disease severity groups(P<0.05).Compared to the poor prognosis group, the good prognosis group exhibited significantly lower levels of CCL23(P<0.05).Upon comparing clinical data between the good prognosis and poor prognosis groups,it was found that the history of hypertension, systolic blood pres-sure,white blood cell count, monocyte count, and platelet count were significantly higher in the poor prognosis group(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that history of hypertension, systolic blood pressure, white blood cell count, monocyte count, platelet count, and CCL23 were independent risk factors for poor prognosis in AIS pa-tients(P<0.05).The ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC of CCL23 for predicting the adverse prognosis occurrence in AIS patients was 0.900,with a sensitivity of 88.14% and a specificity of 80.49%.Conclusion CCL-23 may be in-volved in the occurrence and development of AIS,and CCL-23 is highly effective in predicting the poor prognosis of AIS patients.
