Incidence and influencing factors of dry eye after phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in age-related cataract patients
Objective To investigate the incidence and influencing factors for dry eye in patients with age-related cata-ract(ARC)after phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens(IOL)implantation, and to provide reference for the development of intervention measures to reduce the occurrence of dry eye. Methods The clinical data of 196 ARC pa-tients treated by phacoemulsification and IOL implantation in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2021 to Decmber 2023 were selected retrospectively.According to the occurrence of dry eye after surgery, the 196 ARC patients were divided into dry eye group and non-dry eye group.General data, disease data, surgical indexes and inflammatory factors of tear were collected. The incidence of dry eye after the treatment was analyzed. The influencing fac-tors of postoperative dry eye in ARC patients were analyzed by univariate and binary logistic regression. Results Among 196 ARC patients,87 cases of dry eye occurred after phacoemulsification combined with IOL implantation, the incidence of dry eye was 44.39%.Single factor results showed that there were significant differences in age, diabetes mellitus,con-junctival laxity grade, cataract disease degree, palpebral lipid viscosity, meibomial gland secretion score, incision length, phacoemulsification time, tear levels of CRP,IL-8 IL-1β level between dry eye group and non-dry eye group(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysisshowed that diabetes mellitus, conjunctival laxity grade, palpebral lipid viscosity, meibomian gland secretion, incision length, tear levels of CRP,IL-8 and IL-1 β were all influencing factors for dry eye in ARC patients after phacoemulsification and IOL implantation(P<0.05).Conclusion There is a high in-cidence of dry eye in ARC patients treated by phacoemulsification and IOL implantation, and there are many influencing factors for the occurrence of dry eye in ARC patients.
