Clinical study on combination of procaterol and ipratropium bromide in treatment of childhood bronchial asthma
Objective To explore the effect of combination therapy of procaterol and ipratropium bromide on children with bronchial asthma. Methods A total of 102 children with bronchial asthma who were treated in the Kaifeng Central Hospital from January to December 2023 were prospectively selected and randomly divided into two groups, with 51 ca-ses in each group. All patients received conventional treatment, the control group was addlitionally treated with pro-caterol,and the observation group received combination therapy with procaterol and ipratropium bromide. The disappear-ance time of main symptoms, pulmonary function, blood gas, inflammatory factors before and after treatment were recor-ded and compared between the two groups.Adverse reactions during treatment were recorded. Results Compared to the control group, the main symptoms of the observation group disappeared in a short period of time(P<0.001).After treatment, the observation group had higher first second expiratory volume(FEV,),forced vital capacity(FVC),peak expiratory flow(PEF),and arterial oxygen pressure(PaO2)than those in the control group, while arterial carbon diox-ide pressure(PaCO2)was lower than that in the control group(P<0.001).After treatment, the levels of interleukin-4(IL-4),immunoglobulin E(IgE),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.001).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups of children(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of procaterol and ipratropium bromide can alleviate symptoms in children with bronchial asthma in a short period of time, better improve lung function and blood gas in children, and help reduce inflammation levels. The combination therapy is safe and reliable.
