Safe production strategies for wheat in heavy metal contaminated fields
Heavy metal pollution in farmland soil seriously threatens food security and human health. As a staple food crop, wheat is one of the main dietary sources of heavy metals. How to achieve safe production of wheat in heavy metal-contaminated farmland is an urgent issue in current agricultural production. This article reviews the general situation of heavy metal pollution in wheat production in my country, measures to prevent and control heavy metal pollution in soil, the tolerance and absorption and transport mechanism of heavy metals in wheat, and the research progress of wheat germplasm screening, gene mining and variety breeding technology for low accumulation of heavy metals.Analysis suggests that planting varieties with low accumulation of heavy metals and combining them with appropriate agronomic measures are the most effective measures to prevent and control heavy metal pollution in wheat at this stage.Screening of low-accumulation germplasm, mining of excellent genes and development of molecular markers are the main tasks of current research on low accumulation of heavy metals in wheat. With the continuous development of practical molecular markers, the conventional breeding technology of molecular marker-assisted selection will become an effective method for breeding wheat varieties with low accumulation of heavy metals in the future.
