Ultrasound characteristics analysis of 33 patients with paratesticular adenomatoid tumor
Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of paratesticular adenomatoid tumor by summarizing these high-frequency ultrasound characteristics and clinical data. Methods The high-frequency ultrasound characteristics and clinical data of 34 paratesticular adenomatoid tumor(33 patients)diagnosed by pathology were analyzed in the First Af-filiated Hospital of Zhengzhou University retrospectively. Results The 34 paratesticular adenomatoid tumor(33 patients)were located in 30 epididymis(29 patients),3 rete testis,1 albuginea, and 17 were in each side.In 31 patients of lesion ultrasound diagnosis, only 1 patient had clear preoperative diagnosis,17 patients had descriptive diagnosis,1 patient had missed diagnosis, and 12 patients were misdiagnosed.Among 33 patients,28 patients had local mass resection,2 patients testicular castration and 3 patients testicular epididymectomy. There was no recurrence during follow-up,and dilated epidid-ymal duct was found 5 years after surgery in one patient. Conclusion Adenomatoid tumor of the epididymal tail usually show hyperechogenic masses, while the rest of the tumor have echogenicity.Adenomatoid tumor of the epididymal head are mostly located between the testis and the epididymal head.Combined physical examination can help to reduce missed diag-nosis and make clear diagnosis. For patients with typical paratesticular adenomatoid tumor ultrasound images with fertility needs, conservative treatment with regular review or further surgical treatment after fertility may be considered.
