Comprehensive bioinformatics analysis of the role of claudin-11 in breast cancer
Objective To investigate the expression level of claudin-11(CLDN11)in breast cancer and its prog-nostic value. Methods The mRNA levels of CLDN11 in breast cancer were analyzed using UALCAN and KM-Plotter data-bases.Secondly,its prognostic value was also analyzed.Finally,bc-GenExMiner V4.5 database was used to analyze the expression level of CLDN11 in breast cancer with different clinical parameters. Results CLDN11 mRNA levels were down-regulated in breast cancer compared to normal tissue(UALCAN database:P<0.001;KM-plotter database:P<0.001).Survival prognostic analysis showed that low expression of CLDN11 was associated with poorer overall survival[UALCAN database:P=0.037;KM-plotter database:HR=0.58(0.42~0.80),Log-rank P<0.001]and progression free survival[KM-plotter database:HR=0.66(0.57~0.77),Log-rank P<0.001]in breast cancer.CLDN11 mRNA level was correla-ted with different age(P<0.001),ER status(P<0.001),PR status(P<0.001),HER2 status(P<0.001),triple negative breast cancer(TNBC)subtype(P=0.001)and basal like TNBC subtype(P<0.001).Conclusion CLDN11 was down-regulated in breast cancer and can be used as a prognostic indicator. However, more experimental studies are needed to confirm the molecular mechanism.
