Values of serum alpha-fetoprotein and carbohydrate antigen 125 in prognosis assess-ment of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after resection
Objective To probe the prognostic value of serum alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)and carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125)in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after resection. Methods A total of 80 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma admitted to Nanyang Central Hospital Cancer Hospital from May 2019 to May 2022 were regarded as investigation targets. All the patients underwent hepatocellular carcinoma resection and were followed up for 1 year after surgery.Accord-ing to the prognosis of patients with and without tumor 1 year after surgery, they were grouped into the good prognosis and the poor prognosis groups.Multivariate Logistic analysis was utilized to assess the independent risk factors for poor prognosis after hepatocellular carcinoma resection. Results Of the 80 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma,66(82.50%)had good prognosis and 14(17.50%)had poor prognosis.Compared with the good prognosis group, the serum levels of AFP and CA125 before operation in the poor prognosis group was prominently enhanced(t=5.228,P<0.001;t=15.580,P<0.001).High serum levels of AFP and CA125 was independent risk factor for poor prognosis after hepatocellular carcinoma resection(OR=1.426,P=0.021;OR=1.905,P=0.008).Conclusion The postoperative prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma might be influenced by the preoperative serum AFP and CA125 levels. When the preoperative AFP and CA125 levels are high, the risk of postoperative poor prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma are enhanced.
