By searching databases of traditional Chinese medicine such as the Chinese Basic Ancient Books Library,Zhongyi Zhiku Data Library,Zhongyi Jicheng, and Shanggu Huidian, this paper collected relevant literature records on"Zhizi Chi Decoction"in ancient Chinese medicine books.A total of 219 ancient literature were obtained, and 94 valid data were screened, involving 56 ancient Chinese medicine books. The Treatise on Febrile Diseases recorded Zhizi Chi Decoction for the first time, which was composed of two kinds of medicine,Zhizi(Gardeniae Fructus)and Dandouchi(Sojae Semen Praeparatum). On this basis, later medical practitioners had continued to use it,mostly focusing on the core pathogenesis of heat stagnation in the chest and diaphragm. The symptoms were diverse, including"annoyance","insomnia","annoyance with heat","pain",and so on.In terms of medication dosage, most of them inherited the dosage of 14 pieces of Zhizi(Gardeniae Fructus)and 4 he Dandouchi(Sojae Semen Praeparatum)used in Treatise on Febrile Diseases. The specific dosage may vary slightly in later medical books due to differences in measurement in different dynasties. In this prescription,Zhizi(Gardeniae Fructus)is the dry and mature fruit of Gardenia jasminoides in the Rubiaceae family, and Douchi(Sojae Semen Fermentatum)is a light flavored soybean fermentation product. The decoction method is water decoction. Most doctors believe that this prescription should be stopped once the treatment is effective.Modern pharmacological studies have found that the active components of Zhizi Chi Decoction have the effects of anti-depression,cardiovascular protection, nutritional nerve and so on,and have been widely used in clinics.
