Effects of Compound Pomegranate Peel Medicinal Film on the Morphology of Sebaceous Gland Spots and the Expression of Androgen Receptor in Golden Hamster
Objective:To observe the effect of compound pomegranate Peel medicinal film on the size,morphology and androgen receptor of sebaceous gland spots in golden hamster,and to explore its mechanism in the treatment of acne.Methods:Totally 15 male golden hamsters with androgen dependence were randomly divided into blank group,positive control group and medicinal film group,with 5 mice in each group.Distilled water,0.025%retinoic acid cream,and compound pomegranate Peel medicinal film were applied to the sebaceous gland spots on both sides respectively in three groups,for 28 consecutive days.At 0,14 and 28 days after the beginning of administration,the area of bilateral sebaceous glands was measured,and some sebaceous glands were taken for histopathological and immunohistochemical examination of androgen receptor(AR)expression.Results:Compared with before administration,the area of sebaceous gland spots was significantly reduced in medicinal film group on the 14th day and 28th day(P<0.05).Compared with 14th day of administration,the area of sebaceous gland spots decreased significantly in the positive control group on 28th day of administration(P<0.05).After 28 days of drug administration,there was statistically significant difference in the size of sebaceous gland spots between the medicinal film group and positive control group(P<0.05).After 28 days of drug administration,compared with the blank group,the thickness of sebaceous gland spots decreased in medicinal film group and positive control group,and the difference were statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared with the blank group,the expression of AR de-creased in medicinal film group and positive control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Compound pomegranate Peel medicinal film can reduce the area of sebaceous gland spots and the thickness of sebaceous gland in golden hamster acne model,and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of androgen receptor expression.
