Influence of Acupuncture and Moxibustion on Limb Function in Ischemic Stroke Patients with Different OCSP Classifications Based on the Real-World Study
Objective:To investigate the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on the improvement of limb function in ischemic stroke(IS)patients with different OCSP classifications according to a real-world perspective and its related factors. Methods:This study was a prospective, multicenter cohort study, which included case data from February 2021 to December 2022 from the database of the"Clinical Research Data Management Platform"constructed by the Tianjin Science and Technology Plan Project for the construction of a cohort study of acupuncture and moxibustion intervention in stroke. The data of cases that met the criteria were collected for data processing and statistics, and the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion on improving the limb function of IS patients with different OCSP classifications were evaluated,as well as the related factors. Results:The disability level of patients with IS improved after acupuncture and moxibustion intervention(Z=-15.764,P<0.001).The difference in effects of acupuncture and moxibustion on limb functions of patients with different OCSP classifications was statistically significant(χ2=12.530,P=0.006).And the effect was better for patients with posterior circulation infarct(POCI).The number of acupuncture and moxibustion interventions showed no statistically significant difference in the degree of improvement of mRS(P>0.05).The difference between the timing of acupuncture and moxibustion intervention on the degree of improvement of mRS was statistically sig-nificant(P<0.05),patients with the timing of intervention in the interval of≤7 days,8-14 days, and 15-28 days showed higher degree of improvement in limb function compared with those who intervened on≥29 days. The level of disability on admission showed a statistically significant difference in the degree of improvement of acupuncture and moxibustion on patients'mRS scores(P<0.05).The patients with moderate/severe severe disabilities got better degree of recovery of limb function after acupuncture and moxibustion intervention. The difference among different age groups in the degree of improvement of mRS of patients with acupuncture and moxibustion was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the age of≤70 years old got higher degree of limb function recovery after receiving acupuncture and moxibustion intervention among patients. The difference between patients'first/recurrent condition on the improvement of mRS by acupuncture and moxibustion was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The difference between gender on the improvement of mRS score by acupuncture and moxibustion was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture and moxibustion was more effective in improving limb function in patients with POCI;Acupuncture intervention in the acute phase was more effective in reducing the level of disability;Acupuncture and moxibustion was more effective in reducing the level of disability in patients with moderate/severe-severe disability after stroke;Limb function was better restored after acupuncture and moxibustion intervention in patients with an age group of≤70 years; There was no significant difference in number of acupuncture and moxibustion sessions, gender of the patients, and first/recurrent condition on the efficacy of acupuncture.
