Discussion on the Regularity of ZHU Danxi's Application of Qi Regulating Method in Treating Phlegm Based on the Theory of"Those who are Good at Treating Phlegm Do Not Treat Phlegm but Treat Qi"
The Yuan Dynasty physician ZHU Danxi's discourse on phlegm syndrome was particularly detailed.When treating phlegm syndrome,the legislation was appropriate and the medication was flexible.He advocated for"those who are good at treating phlegm should treat Qi instead of phlegm",aiming to emphasize the key role of Qi balance in the treatment of phlegm syndrome,and achieve the therapeutic effect of phlegm self transformation by unblocking Qi.Based on the frequency and proportion of the use of Qi regulating drugs and phlegm resolving drugs in the relevant medical records of Danxi for treating phlegm,the Danxi Qi regu-lating and phlegm resolving method can be classified into three categories:"treating Qi without treating phlegm","treating phlegm with Qi",and"treating Qi before treating phlegm".There are three situations when treating phlegm:using Qi regulating drugs alone,or using Qi regulating drugs with phlegm resolving drugs,or using phlegm resolving drugs with Qi regulating drugs.The proposition of ZHU Danxi provides a strong theo-retical basis for the application of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of phlegm syndrome,enriches the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine,and provides a beneficial exploration path for clinical practice.
