Clinical Efficacy Observation of Tangbikang(糖痹康)in Treating Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Tangbikang in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods:A total of 60 patients whose Chinese medicine diagnosis was qi-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome were selected as the study subjects.1∶1 matching was carried out according to 7 conditions:the same gender, similar age, similar body mass index, similar time of consultation, similar course of diabetes, similar traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, and similar Michigan diabetic neuropathy scores.A total of 30 pairs were paired, each pair of patients randomly assigned to the experimental group(Tangbikang group)and the control group(Methylcobalamin group),for a total of 12 weeks of treatment. With Michigan diabetes neuropathy score(MDNS)as the main therapeutic index,TCM syndrome score,electrophys-iology,serum NSE level, fasting blood glucose level,2-hours postprandial blood glucose level, and glycosylated hemoglobin level as the secondary therapeutic index, the clinical efficacy and safety of Tangbikang in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy was evaluated. Results:The total effective rate of the experimental group was 83.33%(25/30),while the total effective rate of the control group was 53.33%(16/30).After treatment, compared to the control group, the experimental group showed better improvement in MDNS score, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score, bilateral tibial nerve motor nerve conduction velocity and sensory nerve conduction velocity, and serum NSE level(P<0.05).There was no difference in improving fasting blood glucose,2-hours postprandial blood glucose, and glycated hemoglobin levels(P>0.05).No significant adverse reactions were found during the trial in both groups of patients. Conclusion:Compared with methylcobalamin,Tangbikang is more advantageous in improving the symptoms and signs of patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, increasing t he nerve conduction velocity of the tibial nerve, and lowering the serum NSE level, and there are no significant adverse effects in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy with Tangbikang.
