Treating Headache After Subarachnoid Hemorrhage with Intradermal Acupuncture:A Randomized Controlled Study
Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of intradermal acupuncture for the treatment of headache resulted from subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH).Methods:A total of 68 SAH patients with headache were randomly divided into intervention group(32 cases)and control group(32 cases). The control group implemented guideline-based usual care. The intervention group implemented intradermal acupuncture intervention on the basis of the control group. The main points were Taiyang(EX-HN5),Yintang(DU29),and Touwei(ST8),leaving the needles for 24 h,and treated once a day for five days.Numeric rating scale(NRS),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS)and the use of analgesics drugs of two groups were collected. Results:After 4 and 5 days of intervention, the NRS scores of the intervention group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.001).The results of generalized estimation equation showed that there was an interaction between group and time on NRS score(P<0.001),and the main effects of group and time on NRS score were significant(P<0.001).After treatment, the PSQI score of the intervention group was lower than that of the baseline(P<0.001),but there was no significant difference between the intervention group and the control group(P>0.05).After treatment, the HADS scores of the control group and the intervention group were lower than the baseline(P<0.01),and the HADS score of the intervention group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the use time of analgesic drugs and the total amount of analgesic drugs in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The results of the generalized estimation equation found that after adjusting for confounding variables such as general demographic data and disease factors, the group was still an independent influencing factor of the patient's NRS score, and was negatively correlated(P<0.05).Conclusion:Intradermal acupuncture can significantly improve the headache symptoms of patients with SAH,reduce the anxiety of patients during hospitalization, and reduce the dosage of analgesic drugs. The curative effect is safe and reliable.
