Pharmacological Effect and Mechanism of Betulin:A Review
The pharmacological effects and mechanisms of betulin in recent years were summarized,in order to provide a theoretical basis for the further development and application of betulin.Betulin is a triter-penoid compound mainly extracted from birch bark, and its anti-tumour activity is relatively prominent, and the related molecular mechanism of action is mainly to block the tumour cell cycle, inhibit cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and induce cell apoptosis. In addition, betulin can play multiple pharmacological roles such as anti-inflammatory,antibacterial,antiviral,antioxidant,neuroprotective,hepatoprotective,cardiovascular protective, skin protective, antidiabetic and its complications,insecticidal,anti-malarial,and anti-cholestone etc.through multi-pathway,multi-link and multi-target.
