Research Progress on Pharmacological Mechanism and Clinical Application of Chaihu(Bupleuri Radix)and Its Compound in the Prevention and Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder
To explore the mechanism of action and clinical research progress of Chaihu(Bupleuri Radix)in the prevention and treatment of major depressive disorder(MDD)by expounding the understanding of MDD in traditional Chinese medicine,the main active ingredients of Chaihu(Bupleuri Radix),the pharmacological mechanism of classic compounds and traditional Chinese patent medicines in the prevention and treatment of MDD and their clinical application.The core pathogenesis of MDD is liver stagnation and qi stagnation.The main active ingredients of Chaihu(Bupleuri Radix)are saikosaponin A,saikosaponin D,kaempferol,quercetin,baicalin,volatile oil,etc.,which have anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidation,inhibition of apoptosis,regulation of neurotransmitters and many other effects.The classical compound[Chaihu Shugan Powder(柴胡疏肝散),Sini Powder(四逆散),Chaihu Longgu Muli Decoction(柴胡加龙骨牡蛎汤),etc.]and Chinese patent medicine[Chaigui Granules(柴归颗粒),Jieyu Anshen Granules(解郁安神颗粒),Xiaoyao Pills(逍遥丸),Shugan Granules(舒肝颗),etc.]have multi-channel and multi-target therapeutic advantages in the treatment of MDD.Classical compound can be combined with other prescriptions or other treatments such as acupuncture to treat more complex depressive manifestations of other diseases in clinical practice.Chinese patent medicine is mostly used in the stage where MDD enters the maintenance period and can be gradually withdrawn.
