Study on the Treatment of Borderline Hypertension with Metabolic Disorders Based on Phlegm Dampness Theory
Borderline hypertension refers to blood pressure values between ideal blood pressure and diagnosed hypertension, namely systolic blood pressure(SBP)between 120-139 mm Hg and/or diastolic blood pressure(DBP)between 80-89 mm Hg.Metabolic disorders related diseases include hyperlipidemia, diabetes, hyperuricemia, overweight and obesity, etc. When borderline hypertension and metabolic disorders coexist, patients have a significantly increased risk of developing hypertension and experiencing cardiovascular events.Phlegm and dampness are the key pathological elements of borderline hypertension combined with metabolic disorders. This disease can be divided into 5 different types of phlegm and dampness related syndromes, and corresponding treatment principles are proposed:For spleen deficiency and dampness excess syndrome,it is recommended to strengthen the spleen and Qi,dry dampness and phlegm. For dampness obstruction and heat excess syndrome,it is recommended to clear heat and dry dampness, and dissolve phlegm and dampness. For dampness stasis syndrome,it is recommended to clear phlegm and remove blood stasis, promote blood circulation and dispel dampness. For dampness obstruction and Qi depression syndrome,it is recommended to regulate the liver and spleen, regulate Qi and phlegm. For dampness obstruction and Yin injury syndrome,it is recommended to nourish Yin and blood, and clear heat and dampness. One medical case was attached to support this view.
