Research on the Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine Terminology Standards Based on Self Built Cardiovascular Disease Corpus
Objective:To study the application of english terminology in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)by comparing the similarities and differences between the self built corpus of traditional Chinese medicine terminology and the International Standard Chinese-English Basic Nomenclature of Chinese Medicine by World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies(hereinafter referred to as"terminology standards").Method:Taking the International Standard Chinese-English Basic Nomenclature of Chinese Medicine as the research object,the english journals of Chinese medcine related to cardiovascular field were searched and a corpus was established.The corpus analysis tool Ant Con was used to conduct terminology frequency statistics and analysis,and the similarities and differences between the corpus and t standard terminology were compared by Excel table.Result:There are 630 types and 4 291 tokens in the self built corpus.There are 1 910 types and 11 735 tokens in the terminology standard.Compared with terminology standards,the corpus has 326 identical words,accounting for 51.75％of the corpus(326/630).There are 304 unique words in the corpus,accounting for 48.25％(304/630).Comparing the top twenty high-frequency words in the corpus with the terminology standard,their core words are basically the same.Comparing the top twenty high-frequency phrases in the corpus with the standard phrases of terminology,the frequency of phrases expressed in the same way is 356,accounting for 57.14％(356/623).The frequency of phrases in the corpus is 267,accounting for 42.86％(267/623).The differences between corpus phrases and terminology standards are mainly reflected in four aspects:the use of prepositions,the selection of verbs,the application of pinyin,and the refinement of words.The main reasons for the differences are the poor practical application effect of TCM terminology standards,the diversity and dynamism of TCM terminology standard versions,and the unclear positioning of TCM terminology.Conclusion:The corpus used in this study differs significantly from the terminology standards in both Chinese and english,resulting in mistranslation and inconsistent terminology.We need to make full use of existing guidelines and standards,standardize the application of TCM terminology,while improving the quality of Chinese medicine standard formulation and enhancing international exchanges.
