Research on the Relationship between Adverse Traditional Chinese Medicine Emotional Characteristics and Bilateral Intergenerational Support in Elderly People under the Background of Traditional Culture:A Case Study of 497 Elderly Individuals in Shijiazhuan
Objective:To explore the relationship between bidirectional intergenerational support and adverse traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)emotional characteristics in the elderly under the background of Chinese traditional culture. Methods:A bidirectional intergenerational support questionnaire and the depression, anxiety, social adaptation, and social network support scales in the Chinese Standards for Healthy Elderly People were used to conduct a questionnaire survey on 497 elderly people aged 60 and above in Shijiazhuang,Hebei Province. Results:There is a negative correlation between bidirectional intergenerational support and the occurrence of adverse TCM emotional characteristics such as depression(sadness),anxiety(fear),and etc.,and a positive correlation with social adaptation and social network support. The physical health status, elderly care mode, and whether or not to re-enter the workforce are the main factors affecting the level of intergenerational support for the elderly. Conclusion:Improving the bidirectional intergenerational level of elderly people in China can not only reduce the incidence of adverse TCM emotional characteristics such as depression(sadness),anxiety(fear),and etc.,but also enhance social adaptation and support, which is conducive to better promoting the Chinese style home-based elderly care model.
