Diagnosis of Death Clostridium Perfringens Poisoning Cases in Beef Cattle
Clostridium perfringens is an important zoonotic pathogen, which often causes necrotizing enteritis, enterotoxemia and sudden death in various animals.Recently calves in a beef cattle farm in Kunming City,Yunnan Province suddenly had symptom include rapid breathing, abdominal pain, unsteady gait, obvious abdominal disten-sion,and then died. The main pathological changes of autopsy were pleural effusion, emphysema, mesenteric den-dritic hemorrhage, gastrointestinal contents paste and filled with a large amount of sour and odorous gases. The large intestine, small intestine and their contents of dead calves were collected, and the toxin was detected by a na-tional industry Standards for Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine, the Detection of Clostridium per fringens toxins at frontier port(SN-T 2709-2010).The results showed that the alpha toxin gene, beta toxin gene and enterotox-in gene were all positive, and it was determined to be Clostridium perfringens C type. The diagnosis of this case suggests that there is a case of Clostridium perfringens type C infection in beef cattle in Yunnan Province, which provides a certain reference value for the beef cattle breeding industry, and advocates beef cattle farms to strengthen the prevention of Clostridium perfringens disease.
