Analysis of the Influence of Gun Bore Spacing on the Initial Contact Performance Between Armature and Rail
During electromagnetic launching process, the spacing of the railgun bore directly affects the sliding electric contact state between the armature and rail, especially at the initial stage, which has a great impact on the armature erosion. The gun bore is equivalent to two straight lines that open at a certain angle, and gun bore spacing measurement is carried out using angular bisector characteris-tics.Combining measured data of bore spacing with the engineering practice, the shape change of the bore at the initial stage is analyzed, the initial contact model of the armature and rail under the corre-sponding shape is established, and the influence of the bore assembly accuracy on the initial contact performance examined.Analysis results show that initial bore spacing is the main reason for uneven static stress and asymmetric distribution of contact area and force between rail and armature. The theo-retical analysis results are further verified by the static contact tests of different bore shapes. The re-search can be used to provide theoretical basis for the matching design of armature and rail by analyzing the effect of bore spacing of the gun bore on the initial contact between armature and rail.
