Research progress on the inhibitory effect of Chinese herbs and their components on bacterial biofilm resistance
Bacterial bioepithelium is a key target for bacterial resistance to antibiotics, which mainly involves the barrier function of the periplasm, the expression of efflux pumps and the intramembrane microenvironment.Traditional Chinese medicine, which has thousands of years of development, has the advantages of wide source, complex composition, and not easy to produce drug resistance, and has unique insights in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by drug-resistant bacteria. In addition to their antimicrobial effects,Chinese medicines and their components can also reduce the drug-resistant effects of bacterial biofilms by inhibiting and destroying the periplasm, increasing the permeability of the periplasm, and altering the expression of efflux pumps. This paper summarized the main drug resistance mechanisms of bacterial biofilms and the research results of Chinese medicines and their components on the inhibition of bacterial biofilm resistance by collecting and arranging the relevant literature at home and abroad, with a view to providing new therapeutic ideas and methods for better solving the serious problem of the increase of bacterial drug resistance,as well as to provide a more adequate theoretical basis for the application of Chinese medicines in the treatment of bacterial infectious diseases.
