Research progress of acupuncture treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome based on mitochondrial metabolism
Acupuncture has a positive effect on chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS),and its mechanism studies mainly focus on the control of inflammatory response, regulation of immune response,anti-peroxide stress mechanism, regulation of neuroendocrine function, etc.,but there is insufficient regulation of mitochondrial metabolism.Based on this, this paper reviewed the relevant literature on the treatment of CFS by acupuncture based on the mechanism of mitochondrial metabolism, and the results showed that the regulation of mitochondrial function by acupuncture to treat CFS was the result of multi-level and multi-target interaction.Acupuncture could improve mitochondrial morphology by increasing mito-chondrial electron density, increasing mitochondrial number and reducing mitochondrial vacuolation.Acupuncture could increase the activity of mitochondrial respiratory chain complexⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ and increase the content of ATP.Acupuncture restored the mitochondrial dynamic balance by regulating the expression levels of fusion protein OPA1,MFN1 and fission protein DRP1.Acupuncture could reduce the content of TNF-α,INF-γ,serum IL-6 and other inflammatory factors to reduce the damage of inflammation on mitochondria.Acupuncture could increase the levels of SOD and GSH-Px,decreased the level of MDA,inhibit oxidative stress and improve mitochondrial metabolism.Acupuncture played a therapeutic role by increasing the expression of AMPK/PGC-1α and promoting mitochondrial biosynthesis. In this paper, the above mechanisms were summarized and analyzed in order to provide a new direction for studying the mechanism of acupuncture treatment of CFS.
