The effect of abdominal massage therapy on the levels of neurotrophic factors in the striatum and cortex of tic disorder model rats
Objective To investigate the effect of abdominal massage therapy on the levels of neu-rotrophic factors in the striatum and cortex of rats with tic disorder induced by IDPN.Methods 40 SD rats aged 4 weeks were randomly divided into the control group, the model group, the massage group, and the tiapride hydrochloride group, with 10 rats in each group. Each modeling group was given intraperitoneal injection of IDPN[300 mg/kg,10 mL/(kg·d)],while the control group was given intraperitoneal injection of equal volume physiological saline for 7 consecutive days. After successful modeling, the control group and the model group were given physiological saline by gavage, while the tiapride hydrochloride group was given a suspension of tiapride by gavage(1 mL of the drug contains approximately 2.1 mg of the original drug),with a gavage volume of 1 mL/100 g;the massage group was given abdominal massage therapy on Shenque acupoint, with gavage and massage once a day for 5 consecutive weeks. After the final intervention, the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),glial cell derived neurotrophic factor(GDNF),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and nerve growth factor(NGF)in striatum and cortex of rats were detected by ELISA.Results Compared with the control group, the levels of BDNF,GDNF,VEGF and NGF in striatum area were significantly decreased in the model group(P<0.01),and the levels of BDNF,VEGF,and NGF in the cortex area were significantly decreased(P<0.01),and the level of GDNF was decreased(P<0.05).Compared with model group, the levels of 4 factors in striatum area were significantly increased in the tiapride hydrochloride group(P<0.01),and the levels of BDNF,VEGF and NGF in cortex area were significantly increased(P<0.01).Compared with model group,GDNF and NGF in striatum area were significantly increased in the massage group(P<0.01),and BDNF in cortex area were increased(P<0.05),VEGF and NGF in cortex area were significantly increased(P<0.01).Conclusion Abdominal massage can improve the levels of neurotrophic factors in striatum and cortex of rats with tic disorder.
