Analysis of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome distribution characteristics in 180 patients with cough variant asthma
Objective To analyze the distribution characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine syndromes in patients with cough variant asthma(CVA).Methods Using a cross-sectional study method,180 patients with CVA were selected as the research subjects.General information(gender, age, medical history, etc.),traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis information, cough symptom score(CSS),visual analog scale(VAS)score,Leicester cough questionnaire(LCQ)score,self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)score,self-rating depression scale(SDS)score were collected through a questionnaire survey.Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 24.0 software to analyze the distribution of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndromes in CVA patients. The correlation between TCM syndromes and patient gender, age, history of allergic diseases, course of disease,CSS,VAS,and LCQ were analyzed.Evaluate the anxiety and depression status(SAS、SDS)of CVA patients. Results Among the single syndromes of CVA patients, the wind evil invading the lungs syndrome is the most common, while the mixed syndrome is mostly a mixture of deficiency and excess, with the wind evil invading the lungs syndrome and spleen qi de-ficiency syndrome being the most common. The most common syndrome type of CVA patients induced by COVID-19 infection and those induced by non COVID-19 infection is the syndrome of wind evil invading the lung. There is no significant correlation between traditional Chinese medicine syndrome and patient gender, age, history of allergic diseases, cough symptom score, cough VAS score,LCQ score.Lung qi de-ficiency syndrome is easy to appear when the course of disease is over 6 months. After the control of COVID-19 was released,COVID-19 infection was the main inducement of 120 patients. The SAS score of CVA patients is significantly higher than the average of the normal population in China(P<0.01).Conclusion The traditional Chinese medicine syndrome of cough variant asthma patients is mainly characterized by wind evil invading the lungs, which can also be accompanied by spleen qi deficiency, lung qi deficiency, and other syndromes. The pathological characteristics are mostly excess syndrome, and some patients may have the syndrome of difficiency in origin and excess in superficialit.CVA persists without re-covery,prolongs the course of the disease, and is prone to develop symptoms of lung qi deficiency.COVID-19 infection is easy to induce airway hyperresponsiveness.CVA can easily trigger anxiety in pa-tients.
