Development of illness identity scale for patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders and its test of reliability and validity
Objective To develop the illness identity scale for patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disor-ders(NMOSD),and test its reliability and validity. Methods Based on the literature review and semi-structured in-terview,a formal test scale was formed through expert correspondence and pilot survey.A total of 204 patients with NMOSD were selected by convenience sampling and investigated with the questionnaire survey from July to March 2022,and 20 patients were randomly selected for retest after 2 weeks to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The final version of the scale included 4 dimensions, namely, rejection, acceptance, engulfment, and enrich-ment,with a total of 17 items.Exploratory factor analysis extracted 4 common factors, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 78.286%.The average content validity index of the scale was 0.92,and the content validity index of items was 0.833~1.000.The total Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.916,the split-half reliability was 0.784,and the retest reliability was 0.869 after 2 weeks. Conclusion The NMOSD patient's illness identity scale developed in this study has good reliability and validity, which is suitable for the evaluation of illness identity of relat-ed population.
