Current status of thriving at work among newly graduated nurses and its influencing factors
Objective To survey the current status of thriving at work among newly graduated nurses and explore its influencing factors.Methods A total of 1,089 new nurses from 19 hospitals in Shandong province were surveyed by convenience sampling methods from July to August 2022,using a demographic questionnaire,Thriving at Work Scale,Chinese Version of Work Readiness Scale for Graduate Nurses,Proactive Socialization Behaviors Scale,the Transition Shock Scale.Results The total score of 1,089 new nurses was(40.46±6.11)points in thriving at work.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that new nurses'units,whether nurses like nursing job,work readiness,proactive socialization behaviors,and transition shock were the influencing factors for new nurses'thriving at work(P<0.05),with the above-mentioned variables accounting for 71.7%of the total variation.Con-clusion Newly graduated nurses report medium-to-high level of thriving at work,which is vulnerable to environmen-tal and personal factors influences.Nursing managers should pay more attention to the physical and mental state and behavior of new nurses with depressed department environment,low love for nursing profession and low work readi-ness,and formulate targeted intervention measures to help new nurses successfully accomplish work adjustment and achieve thriving at work prosperity,so as to achieve personal growth and organizational thriving.
