Effects of sense of coherence and social support on loneliness of elderly people in community
Objective To analyze the effects of sense of coherence and social support on loneliness of the elderly in community,and to explore the mediating role of sense of coherence in the relationship between social support and loneliness.Methods A total of 395 elderly people from 4 communities in Beijing were selected as the research objects by convenience sampling method from May to October 2022 and the general data questionnaire,Sense of Coherence Scale,Social Support Rating Scale,and Loneliness Scale were used to conduct face-to-face questionnaire survey.Re-sults The scores of loneliness of the elderly in the communities with different levels of sense of coherence and social support were different,and the scores of loneliness of the elderly in the community with high levels of sense of co-herence and social support were lower(F=59.397,37.339;P＜0.01).There was a positive correlation between so-cial support and sense of coherence among the elderly in the communities(r=0.780,P＜0.01),and the negative correlations between social support,sense of coherence and loneliness of the elderly in the communities(r=-0.649,-0.708;P＜0.01).The sense of coherence played a partial mediating role in the effect of social support on loneliness of the elderly in communitie,and the mediating effect size was-0.382,accounting for 57.1％of the total effect.Conclusion The degree of loneliness of the elderly in the communities still needs to be reduced.Improving the level of social support can directly reduce the loneliness of the elderly in the communities,and social support can in-directly influence the degree of loneliness through the mediating effect of sense of coherence.
