Effect of air-pulse therapy combined with K-point stimulating oral care on awakening of traumatic brain injury patients with consciousness disturbance
Objective To evaluate the ultra-early stages awakening promoting effect of air-pulse therapy combined with K-point stimulating oral care on traumatic brain injury(TBI)patients with consciousness disturbance. Methods A total of 100 TBI patients with consciousness disorder in the neurosurgery department of the First Affiliated Hospi-tal of Nanchang University from January to September 2022 were selected by convenient sampling method, and 95 cases were finally included in the study.Forty-eight patients from January 2022 to April 2022 were set as the control group,47 patients from June to September 2022 were set as the observation group, and May was the washout peri-od.The patients in the control group were given traditional oral care on the basis of the conventional awakening treat-ment,while the patients in the observation group was given air-pulse therapy combined with K-point stimulating oral care on the basis of the control group, with the frequency of 1 time/6 hours. The conscious state and oral status of 2 groups were compared before intervention,2 weeks and 4 weeks after intervention. The changes of consciousness state and cognitive function of patients were evaluated by the modified Coma Recovery Scale-Revised Scale(CRS-R),Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS),and Rancho Los Amigos Scale-Revised Cognitive Function Rating Scale(RLAS-R),and the modified Beck Oral Assessment was used to evaluate the oral status of patients.Meanwhile, the operation time of oral care in 2 groups was recorded in a cross-sectional way. Results Before intervention, there were no significant differences in CRS-R,GCS,RLAS-R,and Beck scores between 2 groups(P>0.05).After 2 weeks and 4 weeks of intervention, the scores of CRS-R,GCS,and RLAS-R gradually increased, and the scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group with statistical significance(P<0.05).The Beck score gradually de-clined,which of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the oral condition in the obser-vation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).No adverse safety events or adverse reactions were observed in both groups during treatment. The oral time of the observation was shorter than that of the control group. Conclusions Oral care with the aid of air-pulse therapy combined with K-point stimulating, common clinical o-ral care operations as the binding, can achieve multiple frequency and regular sensory stimulation, and improve the level of patients'awareness and the quality of oral care.
