Nursing of an extremely low birth weight infant complicated with limb ischemic necrosis after umbilical artery catheterization
Objective This article summarized the nursing experience of an extremely low birth weight infant(EL-BWI)with limb ischemic necrosis after umbilical artery catheterization in November 2022.Essentials for nursing care included:Establishment of a multidisciplinary team,formulation of a refined nursing plan,timely identification of limb ischemic necrosis,and individualized nursing care including good nursing care of vasoactive drugs,avoidance of adverse drug reactions,ensurance of humidity and temperature,maintainment of the effective external environ-ment,and local oxygen therapy.After careful treatment and nursing,the child was discharged successfully without long-term complications such as abnormal limb growth.
