Translation of the Chinese version of dietary restriction burden scale for patients with chronic diseases and its test of reliability and validity
Objective To translate the Chinese version of Burden Scale in Restricted Diets(BIRD)questionnaire for patients with chronic diseases, and test its reliability and validity. Methods The BIRD questionnaire was transla-ted and back-translated by using Brislins translation model, followed by cultural adaptation and pilot testing to form the Chinese version of the BIRD questionnaire.A total of 343 patients with chronic heart failure from multiple tertia-ry hospitals in Shaoyang City from April 2023 to June 2023 were selected by the convenience sampling method to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. Results The Chinese version of the BIRD questionnaire consisted of 1 dimension and 11 items. The content validity index(CVI)of each item ranged from 0.82 to 1.00,with an average CVI value of 0.983 for the questionnaire. The scale demonstrated a negative correlation with a criterion-related va-lidity coefficient of r=-0.323(P<0.001),and the confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fit with x2/df=2.797 and RMSEA=0.073,and the split-half reliability of the scale was 0.79,and the internal consistency of the total scale was satisfactory with a Cronbach's α coefficient of 0.870.Conclusion The Chinese version of the BIRD questionnaire has good reliability and validity and can be used as an evaluation tool for assessing the dietary burden in Chinese patients with chronic diseases.
