Mediating effects of post-traumatic growth between family resilience and care burden among caregivers of patients with first stroke
Objective To explore the mediating effects of post-traumatic growth between family resilience and care burden among caregivers of first-stroke patients. Methods With convenience sampling,a total of 253 caregivers of first-stroke patients who were admitted to the Department of Neurology of the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao Uni-versity from March to October 2022 were selected by the convenient sampling method. The general information ques-tionnaire,Shortened Chinese Version of Family Resilience Assessment Scale(FRAS-C),Post-Traumatic Growth In-ventory(PTGI),and Zarit Burden Interview(ZBI)were used to conduct the questionnaire survey.Amos 24.0 was used to construct structural equation model and verify the mediating effects. Results The total score of FRAS-C,PT-GI and ZBI in caregivers of first-stroke patients were(95.17±9.87)points,(58.39±14.91)points,and 27.00(18.00,35.00)points,respectively.Family resilience of caregivers of first-stroke patients was positively correlated with post-traumatic growth(r=0.346,P<0.001),and negatively correlated with care burden(r=-0.247,P<0.001),post-traumatic growth was negatively correlated with the care burden(r=-0.236,P<0.001).The re-sults of structural equation model showed that post-traumatic growth partially mediates the relationship between family resilience and care burden of caregivers of first-stroke patients, and the intermediary effect value was-0.077,accounting for 21.27%of the total effect. Conclusion The family resilience of caregivers of first-stroke pa-tients is at the lower middle level, and post-traumatic growth plays a partial mediating role between family resilience and care burden among caregivers of first-stroke patients.Medical workers can reduce the level of care burden of car-egivers by improving their family resilience and post-traumatic growth of caregivers.
