Application of oral nutritional supplement health education based on COM-B theory in patients with pancreatic cancer after operation
Objective To explore the application effect of oral nutrition supplement(ONS)health education based on capability,opportunity,motivation-behavior(COM-B)theory in patients with pancreatic cancer after operation. Methods A total of 72 patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent ONS after operation in the Pancreatic Center of the Second affiliated hospital with Nanjing medical university from September 2021 to September 2022 were selected by convenience sampling, and divided into the observation group and the control group by random number table method, with 36 cases in each group. The control group was given routine health education, while the observation group was given ONS health education based on COM-B theory. The self-efficacy,compliance,and nutrition related indicators(albumin, prealbumin, and retinol binding protein)were observed and compared between 2 groups at 1 day before operation, and 7 d,14 d,and 30 d after ONS.Results There was no statistically significant difference in self-efficacy and nutrition related indicators between 2 groups 1 d before surgery(P>0.05).The scores of self-effi-cacy at 7 d,14 d,and 30 d after ONS in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the compliance of the observation group at 14 d and 30 d after ONS were better than those of the control group, and the albumin of the observation group at 30 d after ONS,prealbumin and retinol binding protein at 14 d and 30 d after ONS were better than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclu-sion Health education of ONS based on COM-B theory can enhance the self-efficacy of ONS,increase compliance, and improve the nutritional status of patients with pancreatic cancer after operation.
