Summary of best evidence for the care of extravasation injury in neonatal intravenous infusions
Objective To retrieve, evaluate, and synthesize the best evidence on the care of neonatal intravenous fluid extravasation injury. Methods Based on the 6S model of the evidence-based pyramid, evidence on neonatal intra-venous infusion extravasation care was systematically searched in computerized/clinical decision support systems, relevant guideline and professional association websites and databases, with a time limit of search from database cre-ation to June 30,2023.The quality of the included literature was evaluated by 2 researchers according to the type of literature using the appropriate literature evaluation tool. Results A total of 9 publications were included, including 2 guidelines,1 expert consensus,2 clinical decisions,2 best practices, and 2 systematic reviews.Seventeen best evi-dences were summarized in 5 dimensions:Wound assessment, emergency management, pharmacological treatment, wound management, and dressing application. Conclusion The best evidence of wound care for neonatal intravenous fluid extravasation in this study were systematically retrieved and summarized, and health care professionals should selectively apply the best evidence with full consideration of the current status of departmental development in clinical application to promote wound healing of neonatal intravenous fluid extravasation.
