Objective To investigate the occurrence of symptoms of convalescent stroke patients, identify symp-tom clusters, construct contemporaneous symptom network, andexplore core symptomin the symptom network. Methods A total of 250 stroke patients at recovery stage in rehabilitation center and neurology department of gradeA general hospital in Sichuan province from May 2022 to September 2023 were recruited by convenience sample meth-od,and a cross-sectional survey was conducted using general information questionnaire and stroke symptom experi-ence scale.Symptom clusterswas extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and contemporaneous symptom networks were built and the centrality indexwas analyzed using R programming language. Results Decreased self-care ability and limb weakness were the most prevalent and severe symptom of convalescent stroke patients, and 4 symptom clusters were identified, namely physical activity-related symptoms cluster, cognitive impairment symptoms cluster,emotion-related symptoms cluster, and coordination-balance symptom cluster, with a cumulative variance contribu-tion rate of 66.414%.In the symptom network, activities of daily living was the core symptom of stroke patients during the recovery period with the highest strength(rs=1.67)and expected influence(rE=1.67).Conclusion Stroke patients in the recovery period experience multiple symptom clusters(physical activity-related symptoms clus-ter,cognitive-impairment symptoms cluster,emotional-related symptoms cluster, and coordination-balance symp-toms cluster),and declineof daily living is the core symptomof stroke patients in the recovery period.Healthcare pro-fessionals should comprehensively consider both the occurrence of these symptoms and core symptom when develo-ping scientific and accurate symptom management measures.
