Objective To explore the effect of multimedia teaching videos on prognostic outcome in patients with ischemic stroke complicated by diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 140 patients with ischemic stroke complicated by diabetes mellitus admitted to in the neurology department of our hospital from August 2021 to June 2023 were en-rolled,and were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group of 70 each. The control group re-ceived routine care combined with health education, while the observation group received the health education through multimedia teaching videos in addition to routine care. After 3 months of intervention, fasting blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin values before and after the intervention were compared between 2 groups.Morisky medica-tion compliance scale, modified Rankin scale(MRS),Barthel index score, and Hamilton anxiety scale were used to evaluate medication compliance, recovery of neurological function, activity of daily living, and improvement in anxie-ty symptoms before and after the intervention. Results After 3 months of intervention, patients in the observation group had higher scores on the Morisky medication compliance scale and Barthel index compared to the control group, and also had lower fasting blood glucose levels, glycated hemoglobin levels, and MRS scores than the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.001),and had no significant change in scores on the Hamilton anxiety scale, with no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion Implementing multimedia teaching video intervention in patients with ischemic stroke complicated by diabetes mellitus can effectively improve medica-tion compliance and neurological function recovery of patients.Lowering patients'fasting blood glucose levels and glycated hemoglobin levels is of great significance for the patient's physical recovery, but the improvement of anxiety symptoms requires longer-term strong guidance.
