Design and application of improved respiratory pipeline condensate water treatment device
Objective To explore the application effect of improved respiratory pipeline condensate water treat-ment device. Methods By utilizing the structural characteristics of a floating ball drain valve to"block steam and drain water",the ventilator tubing was improved. Two ICU ventilators in our hospital were randomly divided into the con-trol group and the observation group. The control group used ordinary ventilator tubing, while the observation group used improved ventilator tubing. The workload related to condensate water, quality supervision of condensate water treatment, and nurse satisfaction were compared between 2 groups within 48 hours.Result Within 48 h,1,050 mL of condensate water was collected in the observation group, while 1,035 mL of condensate water was collected in the control group, and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05),and the quality supervision of con-densate water treatment(over 50%volume and splashing situation)was improved. The satisfaction of nurses in the observation group in 3 dimensions of saving time, reducing workload, and improving nursing safety was higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).Conclusion The improved con-densate water treatment device in the respiratory tract can effectively reduce the workload of nursing staff in handling condensate water, improve the quality of condensate water management in ventilators, and enhance the job satisfac-tion of nursing staff. This design also makes it possible for the respiratory tract of mechanically ventilated patients to be completely sealed, reducing the risk of disease transmission and occupational exposure for medical personnel to the greatest extent.
