Development of the Chinese version of caring behaviour inventory-16 and its tests of reliability and validity
Objective To translate the caring behaviours inventory-16(CBI-16)into the Chinese version,and to test its reliability and validity in nurses in China.Methods The original scale was translated in strict accordance with the Brislin translation model,and the test version of the Chinese version of CBI-16 was formed after cross-cultural adaptation and pre-investigation.A total of 326 nurses from 3 tertiary hospitals in Anhui province were investigated by convenience sampling,and reliability and validity of the scale were tested from May to July 2023.Results The Chinese version of CBI-16 included of 16 items in 2 dimensions(Respect and communication,and professional knowl-edge and skills),and the rate of cumulative variance contribution was 60.470％.The Cronbach's α of the whole scale was 0.918,and Cronbach's α coefficient of each dimension was 0.839 and 0.921.and the retest reliability of the scale was 0.802.The item-level content validity index of the scale was 0.833(1.000,and the scale-level content validity index of the scale was 0.969.Conclusions The Chinese version of CBI-16 has good reliability and validity,which can be used as an effective tool to evaluate the caring behavior of nurses in China.
