Objective To understand the life care needs of terminal patients.Methods Using an inductive content analysis approach,29 narrative diaries on end-of-life care collected from 2009 to 2023 were analyzed and thematically extracted their themes with the assistance of Nvivo11.0 software.Results A total of 5 themes were extracted:Ex-pression of end-of-life care needs,respect for life,affirmation of life,the need for closure with fundamental social re-lationships,and the search for life's meaning.Conclusion Providing end-of-life care for terminal patients requires ac-curately identifying signals of expressed care needs,and respecting the sanctity of individual life as the premise,af-firming the value of life,unlocking patients'inner strength,promoting the process of bidding farewell to life while fostering both the continuation,realize the continuation and transcendence of life,and ultimately helping terminal patients to experience the meaning and value of their existence.
