Study on menopausal symptoms in women with premature ovarian insufficiency
Objective To explore menopausal symptoms and symptom clusters in women with premature ovarian insufficiency(POI).Methods A total of 220 women with POI from specialist ovarian aging clinic in a tertiary hospital in Wuhan from May 2021 to May 2022 were recruited by convenience sampling method.The general information questionnaire and modified Kupperman menopausal index were applied to assess the probability of patients with menopausal symptoms.Results The overall incidence of menopausal symptoms in patients with POI was 82.5%,of which the incidence of moderate and severe menopausal symptoms was 45.8%,and 5 symptoms with the highest in-cidence were emotional agitation(86.3%),fatigue(78.8%),insomnia(77.4%),depression(69.3%),and sexual life disorder(61.8%).Four symptom clusters had been found by principal component analysis,which were psycho-neurological symptom cluster,pain symptom cluster,sensory disorder symptom cluster,and genitourinary tract symptom cluster.Hot flashes and sweating symptom existed alone,and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 63.026%.Conclusion Understanding menopausal symptoms and symptom clusters in patients with POI can help clinical medical staff carry out health education,monitoring and evaluation of menopausal symptoms,detect changes in the condition as early as possible,and intervene in time.
