Mediating effect of recurrence risk perception on the relationship between social capital and rehabilitation exercise compliance in patients with ischemic stroke
Objective To understand the current status of the social capital, recurrence risk perception, and reha-bilitation exercise compliance in patients with ischemic stroke, and to analyze the mediating effect of recurrence risk perception on the relationship between social capital and rehabilitation exercise compliance. Methods A total of 334 ischemic stroke patients who were hospitalized in the department of neurology and rehabilitation of the Peoples Hos-pital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from January to August 2023 were selected using the convenience sam-pling method, and were conducted a questionnaire survey by the general information questionnaire, recurrence risk perception scale for patients with ischemic stroke, the social capital scale, and stroke functional exercise adherence questionnaire. Results The total score of recurrence risk perception scale for patients with ischemic stroke in patients with ischemic stroke was(88.38±10.42)points,which was at an upper-middle level; The total score of the social capital scale was(76.42±6.23)points,which was at a relatively high level; And the total score of stroke functional exercise adherence questionnaire was(43.37±3.89)points,which was at a relatively high level.Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a pairwise positive correlation among social capital, recurrence risk perception, and functional exercise compliance in patients with ischemic stroke(P<0.05).The results of mediation analysis showed that recurrence risk perception played a partial mediation role between social capital and functional exercise adher-ence,and the mediation effect accounted for 39.47%of the total effect. Conclusion Recurrence risk perception is the intermediary variable between social capital and rehabilitation exercise adherence in ischemic stroke patients. While improving the social capital of ischemic stroke patients, medical staff should strengthen risk communication with pa-tients,improve the level of recurrence risk perception, and then promote compliance with functional exercise.
