The Cultural Interpretation and Construction of Artistic Value of Huizhou Ancestral Portraits from the Perspective of Iconology
Huizhou ancestral portraits are famous for their use in folk sacrifice in Huizhou.Based on the perspective of iconology,this paper analyzes the existing Huizhou ancestral portraits from both cultural and artistic aspects,and finds that Huizhou ancestral portraits contain explicit and implicit genes of Huizhou culture.At the same time,they use ritual space and visual symbols to showcase cultural connotations and historical value.The Huizhou ancestral portraits are mainly reflected in three aspects in the construction of artistic value.Firstly,they inherit and promote the traditional techniques.Secondly,they are influenced and supported by the theory of Xin'an School of Painting.Thirdly,they are differ-ent from the painting techniques of royal ancestral portraits.
