Du Mu has been familiar with historical books of various dynasties since his childhood and served as a historian in the Wen and Xuan dynasties.The historical thought of Du Mu is mainly reflected in three aspects:Firstly,emphasizing the"historical lessons".The historical lessons advocated by Du Mu not only involves politics,but also summarizes historical experience for the Tang Emperor in the military aspect.Secondly,to examine historical issues with the concept of grand unification,hop-ing that the Tang court could recover the lost land of Hehuang.Thirdly,advocating for practical applica-tion,mainly manifested in the importance he attached to the military and the exploration of taxes on corvee.Among them,Du Mu's thought on governing the world were of great concern to those in pow-er during the Tang Dynasty,and had a great impact on the formulation and reform of the military and political policies of the Tang Court.
