Effect of Cryogenic Treatment on the Microstructure and Properties of Ag Wire
The microstructure, mechanical properties and conductivity of pure silver wire with a di-ameter of 1.772 mm were systematically studied by cryogenic treatment.Experiments showed that the microstructure of pure silver wire was not changed after cryogenic treatment, but with a surface micro-hardness change increased from 65.8 Hv to 68.9 Hv and the conductivity also increased from 99.45%IACS to 101.28%IACS compared with the original sample. The X-ray diffraction analysis shows that after deep cooling treatment, the peak values(220)and(311)in the crystal direction of pure silver are enhanced, and the uniformity of the structure is improved. The half width at half maximum of each crystal direction is reduced to a certain extent.By analyzing the changes in grain size,it was found that the decrease in half width is mainly due to the reduction of microstrain induced by deep cooling treatment, which is beneficial for improving conductivity.
