A Study on the Practice of Self-directed Learning of College English Vocabulary Based on Mobile Application"Baicizhan"
A sample survey on the English vocabulary learning of college students in Anhui prov-ince shows that there are two main problems in the current English vocabulary learning of college stu-dents:the single teaching mode of classroom vocabulary and the lack of scientific guidance for stu-dents'independent vocabulary learning.Based on this,by using the mobile learning application of Baici-zhan,a self-directed vocabulary learning experiment was conducted on 152 students at a university in Anhui province.The experiment results show that,compared to traditional printed materials in vocabu-lary learning,the mobile application Baicizhan has a significant effect on learners'self-directed learning performance in terms of vocabulary pronunciation,semantic analysis,vocabulary match,and so on,how-ever,it is not significant in terms of vocabulary spelling.Based on this,suggestions for self-directed learning of college English vocabulary from the perspective of mobile learning are proposed:to attach importance to the separation between the roots and affixes,to construct lexical context to help memory,and to combine visual and auditory memorization.
