Guangzhou Open University is entrusted with the mission of supporting regional economic and so-cial development,as well as contributing to the creation of a learning society.This mission reflects the university's commitment to its educational goals and original purpose.Since the early 2000s,the university has been actively ex-ploring ways to support the development of learning cities,progressing through three stages:initial exploration,com-prehensive promotion,and deeper expansion.Key experiences include addressing the learning needs of priority groups,building an"integrated and diversified"cooperation mechanism,embracing comprehensive digital empower-ment,and securing ongoing government support.Looking ahead,Guangzhou Open University should align its efforts with the goals of building learning societies,a knowledge-based nation,and a leading educational power in support of China's modernization.The university should focus on four key areas:planning and goal-setting,system and framework development,digital empowerment and smart city integration,and ensuring inclusive growth that delivers tangible benefits to the public.These actions are essential for accelerating the implementation and impact of learning society initiatives.
